Police arrest 2 men in Rome for alleged sexual violence
Accusations involve a 13-year-old and a 31-year-old, with arrests made after rapid patrol interventions.
Carabinieri police in Rome arrested two men accused of sexual violence in two separate incidents, both involving quick intervention by patrols.
The first episode happened at around 2:30 a.m. in via di San Francesco a Ripa. A 13-year-old was walking along the street with her mother when an man allegedly approached her, fondled her intimate areas, and then tried to leave. An on duty carabinieri crew near the area stopped the suspect, a 69-year-old man from Ethiopia.
A second case unfolded shortly after, at about 4 a.m., in piazza San Vincenzo Pallotti. A 31-year-old Italian woman was reportedly approached and molested in a similar way while walking with two friends. An alert from people present led carabinieri from the Villa Bonelli station to reach the scene quickly and stop the alleged attacker, a 31-year-old man from Tunisia.
Both accused were taken to barracks and arrested at the disposal of the judicial authority.
