Gujarat ATS has arrested accused Salim Dola in Turkey after probing his suspected links to Dawood Ibrahim, officials said. The arrest follows a 2022 operation in Singarot village, Vadodara district, where a drug manufacturing unit was busted. Drugs worth more than ₹438 crore were seized, and 10 accused were arrested in the case. Investigators say Salim Dola had been running a drug network in India while living abroad. In the Gujarat case, interrogation and earlier connections helped investigators link the network to Salim Dola, who was deported after his arrest in Turkey. Police said the network allegedly hid drugs in containers carrying legally exported goods, and dummy companies were used to receive shipments overseas. They also say Dola lived in Dubai on the basis of an Indian passport and used mobile numbers from Dubai and Kenya. The ATS also issued a Red Corner Notice through Interpol to arrest Salim. Investigators have since obtained his custody and are now examining whether he was in contact with Dawood Ibrahim. More than 15 cases involving Salim Dola are registered in Mumbai and Bhopal and by the ED, the ATS said. The probe is continuing after his role in the Gujarat factory came to light.
