A joint investigation by Latvian and Ukrainian authorities, supported by Eurojust, has led to the shutdown of a fraudulent call centre in Kharkiv, Ukraine. The call centre was operated by an organised crime group, which allegedly defrauded residents across Europe of hundreds of thousands of euros. Following a joint action day on 26 May, investigators arrested four leaders of the group. Authorities also identified five individuals as suspects and carried out 14 searches as part of the operation. The arrests and suspect identification are part of the investigation process, not proof of guilt. The Eurojust-supported case involved cooperation between Latvian and Ukrainian law enforcement, aimed at dismantling the scheme and disrupting its ability to continue defrauding victims. More details are set out in a report by Eurojust.
