A 51-year-old man, M. T., was arrested in Serbia on an Interpol red notice issued from Montenegro, and a Belgrade court later released him with a ban on leaving the country. Montenegrin police said Serbian authorities detained him after the international notice was issued by NCB Interpol Podgorica. The arrest date and the exact place were not made public. M. T. is wanted to secure his presence in criminal proceedings before the Higher Court in Podgorica. Investigators allege he helped form a criminal organization and was involved in unauthorized production, possession and sale of narcotics. The suspected group, formed in 2020, is linked in the case to Goran Vlaovic, who is now dead. Prosecutors allege the group’s aim was to smuggle 1.89 tons of cocaine from Colombia and Ecuador to Australia and Belgium. Two other suspects tied to the same notice were also named by NCB Interpol Podgorica, R. B. and I. Dj., but no arrests were reported for them. Police said the arrest happened through operational information exchanged between Interpol’s national central bureaus in Podgorica and Belgrade. M. T. was brought before the Special Department for Organized Crime of the Higher Court in Belgrade, which ordered his release while banning him from leaving Serbian territory and temporarily seizing both his Montenegrin and Serbian travel documents. The court’s reasoning was not provided. Investigators said the case is ongoing and further measures are being taken to establish the facts, and no extradition decision for Montenegro was reported.
