Serbia arrests UKP head Marko Kričak over alleged document tampering
He was detained in Belgrade after prosecutors received an attorney complaint.
Belgrade prosecutors ordered the arrest of Marko Kričak, the head of Serbia’s Criminal Police Administration (UKP), over alleged abuse of office, according to the indictment order.
Kričak was taken into custody by order of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office (VJT) in Belgrade, alongside another top officer, Boško Sekulović, the head of the Service for Suppressing Crime. Both arrests followed a criminal complaint filed by attorney representatives of Veselin Milić, an assistant police director.
Kričak had previously led the police investigation after the killing of Aleksandar Nešović “Baja” at the “27” restaurant in Senjak. Milić had initially been covered in a police criminal report in that case. Prosecutors now allege that Kričak acted improperly by falsifying evidence and putting pressure on witnesses and defendants so the facts would match a pre-built version of events.
The case also connects to an earlier complaint. Milić’s lawyer team had filed the submission on 30 July 2026, accusing UKP leadership of framing him in the Senjak matter.
Kričak has been linked to allegations of violent conduct in connection with student protests, where he and a unit he led were described as acting brutally, and where a student publicly accused him of threatening violence.
As of the latest update, Kričak and Sekulović are arrested and detained pending further prosecutor action in the VJT case.
