Police arrest woman in Slovenia after Montenegro child abduction conviction
A six-month sentence was imposed in Bar, and extradition steps are under way.
A Serbian citizen has been arrested in Slovenia on an international arrest warrant over a child abduction conviction in Montenegro, police said.
Police said the woman, identified as DP, was arrested on Monday, after an Interpol warrant issued by Interpol Podgorica.
The court in Bar, Montenegro, handed DP a final six-month prison sentence for child abduction. The Basic Court in Bar found that in 2022 and 2023 she prevented her minor child from having contact with his father.
The sentence followed a final court decision in Bar that set out how personal relations between the child and both parents should work. Police said DP prevented the execution of that decision by failing to ensure the child spent the required periods with the father.
Police said communication is ongoing between Interpol Podgorica and Interpol Ljubljana regarding DP’s extradition to Montenegro.
