Severe rain and thunderstorms forecast in western Greece from Saturday
The heaviest storms are expected in the Ionian Sea and Epirus late Saturday into early Sunday.
A low-pressure system moving from Italy, along with a cold front, is expected to bring unsettled weather to Greece starting from Saturday 10 October 2026.
According to the report, the disruption will begin in western parts of the country and then gradually spread toward the east. The heaviest rainfall and storm activity are expected to fall first across western and northwestern regions, particularly in Epirus.
As the event progresses, weather instability is forecast to strengthen further over the interior of mainland Greece, with intermittent showers mainly over mountainous areas.
The strongest thunderstorms are expected in the northern Ionian and Epirus, where storms may be particularly intense at times.
The period with the most significant effects is forecast for the evening of Saturday and the early hours of Sunday. During that window, the bad weather is expected to enter its most active phase, with stronger showers and thunderstorms affecting more areas across the Ionian Sea and western and northwestern mainland Greece.
