Sex offender jailed after travelling to meet a child in Reading
Thomas Reeds, 25, was jailed for seven-and-a-half years after breaches of an order.
Thomas Reeds, a registered sex offender, travelled to Reading after sexual communications online and was arrested instead of meeting the child he believed he would contact, according to BBC.
Reeds, 25, from Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, was jailed for seven-and-a-half years after admitting 18 offences at Reading Crown Court. The case involved three breaches of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, eight attempted breaches of the same order, and making indecent images of a child.
The court heard Reeds was breaching terms set by a judge at a court hearing in 2024. He was already banned from having unsupervised contact with children under 16 following another court appearance at Manchester Crown Court in April 2024.
After officers arrested him, they found he was in contact with other children and that he was in possession of 15 indecent images of children.
At Reading Crown Court on Friday, Reeds pleaded guilty. He had been arrested after travelling down to Reading in April to meet the child.
Reeds has been sentenced and is serving a seven-and-a-half year jail term.
