Police in Siracusa arrest 2 thieves after 3-metre jump
One suspect is injured and taken to hospital, while the prosecutor orders home detention.
Siracusa police have arrested two men after they allegedly tried to escape a burglary by jumping from a three-metre height.
Officers from the State Police Volanti unit in Siracusa were called after a passer-by reported a broken window at the first floor of a building used by an insurance agency. The incident was reported at 5:40 in the early hours.
When officers arrived, they found two men allegedly attempting to flee. Instead of running on foot, the suspects reportedly jumped from the height, then were blocked and arrested for attempted theft.
The two men are aged 43 and 53, both from Siracusa. One of them was injured during the jump and was taken to hospital for the injuries he suffered.
Following the arrest, the case was handled by the prosecutor, who ordered home detention. The latest status is that both suspects remain in the legal process after being arrested by police.
The investigation continues as authorities assess the events linked to the alleged theft attempt.
