Six suspects held over Brussels police officer murder
Investigation spans arrests in Paris and southern Spain after October killing.
Six people have been detained in connection with the murder of a police officer in Brussels, Belgian prosecutors said.
The six suspects, including one juvenile, are known to Belgian judicial authorities for involvement in drug trafficking, prosecutors said. Prosecutor Julien Moanel did not name any of those held and said they are Belgian citizens.
Three of the suspects were arrested in Almeria, in southern Spain. Prosecutors said the men were likely trying to flee to Morocco. A fourth suspect was arrested at a train station in Paris over the past few hours.
The remaining two were detained in Belgium after prosecutors said they carried out an armed carjacking in Tubize on Monday evening.
The 41-year-old police inspector was killed in Brussels on the night of 12 to 13 October while trying to stop a vehicle reported stolen in Tubize.
The investigation is ongoing, with all six suspects currently in custody as authorities pursue the case for the Brussels murder of the officer.
