Slovenians vacationing in Croatia can expect to see Slovenian police officers once again during the 2026 summer season as part of the long-running “Safe Tourist Destination” cooperation project. The officers are scheduled to be deployed to support Croatian colleagues with day-to-day policing and assistance for visitors. According to the Slovenian police, deployments will be focused on locations including Pula, Novalja and Vodice, as well as the island of Krk. From 1 July to 14 August 2026, four named Slovenian officers—Andreja Vuk, Drago Butara, Marjan Premzl and Goran Mihelčič—will be assigned to the police administrations of Istria, Primorje-Gorski Kotar, Lika-Senj and Šibenik-Knin, respectively. The police said their on-the-ground presence is intended to improve communication, help resolve potential issues more quickly, and strengthen tourists’ sense of safety. The project began in 2011, and the Slovenian police said it has proved effective through international cooperation. During deployments, Slovenian officers primarily support Croatian police with maintaining public order, traffic enforcement, and dealing with criminal offences. They also assist with communication and police procedures involving Slovenian citizens. The police also said the officers will raise awareness among Slovenian holidaymakers about simple preventive steps to help protect personal belongings. The notice highlighted that Croatia recorded almost 1.7 million visits by Slovenian citizens in 2025.
