A 36-year-old man was arrested in Serres over the death of his 68-year-old father, after the victim was found dead at home on 1 August. Police moved after an arrest warrant was issued earlier, leading to the arrest in the same area. The 68-year-old was discovered dead by his son, with no external injuries and no signs of a break-in at the residence. Investigators then turned to the forensic examination. It found internal injuries in the victim’s abdominal area. The injuries were caused by a blunt object, most likely a hammer or a mallet, and the results pushed the inquiry toward a criminal act. The 36-year-old remains arrested as authorities work to fully clarify what happened.
