Police arrest 39-year-old in Sulcis after seizing 2kg cocaine
Cash and drug-making tools were also seized, with a reported value estimate of 400,000 euros.
A 39-year-old man was arrested in Sulcis after police seized about two kilograms of cocaine, largely in solid form known as “in pietra”, during an operation between Carbonia and Iglesias.
State Police launched the investigation following investigative activity by the Anticrimine units and judicial police teams from the Carbonia and Iglesias public security precincts. Officers carried out observation, stakeouts and monitoring of the area, narrowing their focus on the man, suspected of being a reference point for cocaine dealing in the Sulcis area.
The inquiry ended with searches that recovered around two kilograms of cocaine. Police also seized 12,400 euros in cash, plus five electronic scales, packaging materials, a vacuum sealing machine, and two mobile phones, which investigators said could be linked to preparing and distributing the drug.
Based on an initial estimate, the cocaine seized could have reached a commercial value of about 400,000 euros after any processing and cutting. The man was taken into custody and sent to the “Ettore Scalas” prison in Uta, where he remains at the disposal of the judicial authority.
