A woman was left with life-threatening injuries after a midnight attack.
A woman suffered life-threatening injuries after she was stabbed in Wilwerwiltz, and a suspect was taken into pre-trial detention the same day.
Police were called shortly after midnight on rue de Hosingen following an altercation that escalated into violence. A man allegedly beat the woman before stabbing her, then fled before officers arrived.
A search operation was launched across the village. Officers eventually found the suspect a few hundred metres away in a camper van parked opposite the church, and he was arrested without incident.
Several knives were seized during the vehicle search. Emergency services rushed the victim to hospital after the attack.
On the orders of the public prosecutor, the suspect was brought into custody and later appeared before an investigating judge. A detention order was issued and he was transferred to Uerschterhaff prison in Sanem as investigators continue to establish the sequence of events and the motives behind the attack.
