Police in Husum arrested a 38-year-old suspect after several fires in the Flensburger Chaussee area. The incidents broke out during the night to Monday. Around 3:30 a.m., flames damaged goods in front of the sales area at a tank station, including a shelving area and a rubbish bin near a filling pump. Heat caused a window behind the shelves to shatter, and a staff member put out both burning spots. About two hours later, police found another fire, this time in a waste container at a neighboring car wash. A witness had already started extinguishing it when officers arrived. Police said they see a connection between the fires. During Monday morning, a tank station employee recognized the alleged perpetrator among customers and alerted officers. Officers then detained the man in the surrounding area. After police investigation measures, the 38-year-old was sent to a specialist clinic via the social psychiatry service.
