Police arrested a 57-year-old man in Reggio Emilia on suspicion of attempted murder after a colleague was seriously injured outside a bar in Via Gorizia. The alleged attack happened on the night of 18 August, when the victim was hit around 23:00 with a work tool during a confrontation outside the venue. Investigators believe the two men had agreed to meet outside the bar. A dispute, described as sparked by trivial reasons, escalated quickly, and the 57-year-old allegedly stabbed the other man, causing a deep wound to the right lung as well as injuries to the head and shoulders. The victim was taken to hospital by people who knew him. He underwent surgery to save his life. Witnesses in the area reported hearing shouts and recorded a short video. Police were called, and the Squad Mobile examined videos from surveillance cameras as well as witness accounts. They also carried out listening and interception work, using citizen footage as part of the investigation. A few days ago, investigators identified the alleged attacker and traced him to his home in the Rosta Nuova district. Police searched the premises looking for the clothes he wore during the attack. Prosecutors had requested a custody measure. A judge granted it, and the 57-year-old was taken to prison in execution of the remand order. The case remains under investigation.
