Terracina, 60-year-old arrested for violating approach ban
Carabinieri arrested the man after electronic monitoring flagged he was too close.
A 60-year-old man was arrested in Terracina after violating a court order that banned him from approaching his ex-compagna, despite electronic monitoring.
On the morning of 4 November, Carabinieri responded to an alert triggered by the control devices assigned to the man and his ex-compagna. The systems recorded an extremely short distance between the two, sending an automatic signal to the operations centre.
Patrols from the Carabinieri Radiomobile unit in Terracina reached a bar in the city centre. The woman was visibly agitated when they arrived and said her ex-companion had shown up shortly before, sitting at a table with an acquaintance.
She reported that he initially stopped outside, then went inside and stared at her while the ban was still in force. The man left before the Carabinieri arrived, but the woman managed to take photos of him while he was just a few metres away inside the bar.
The images were handed to the officers to help with checks. Police then searched the area, involving patrols on the territory, and located the 60-year-old within minutes in a peripheral area of Terracina, where he was with a family member.
The man’s explanations did not prevent the arrest. He was taken into custody in delayed flagranza proceedings for violating the protective order.
After the arrest, he was held in the security rooms at the Carabinieri station in Terracina pending a validation hearing. At the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Latina, he appeared before the judge under a direct procedure.
On 5 November, the arrest was validated and the ban on approaching the ex-compagna was confirmed.
The case remains at the preliminary investigation stage, and the man remains subject to the presumption of innocence until a final decision.
