Greek authorities have arrested a 26-year-old Albanian man suspected of involvement in a murder in Thessaloniki. Romarjo Tahiri, from Korça, was declared internationally wanted by Interpol Tirana. He is accused of killing a fellow Albanian in 2020 together with two other people. Investigators allege the victim was raped first and then beaten with cutting tools, before he died. In 2021, the Korça Court ordered a security measure of “Arrest in prison” for the offence of intentional murder committed in collaboration. The arrest was carried out during an international operation called “The Wanted”. Interpol Tirana said it is working with Interpol Athens on the steps needed for Tahiri’s extradition to Albania. Tahiri is currently provisionally arrested in Greece as the extradition process is prepared.
