Three residents of Hebron were arrested after police said they posted online praise for terrorists and support for Hamas. Police launched the probe after a deadly attack on Friday in the West Bank that killed St.-Sgt. Ron Yonatan Roytman and Sgt. Yuval Shai Svilem. Investigators said the three suspects published photographs of the attackers with messages praising them, including songs and calls for armed conflict. One suspect allegedly shared images of the terrorists and wrote that the “right is mine and the land is mine,” adding that the attackers were “alive with their Lord.” Police said the post also included lyrics about paradise and “humiliation,” alongside a song playing in the background. Investigators said another suspect described the attack as “Operation Hebron.” They also identified online content calling for armed conflict against Israel. The third suspect, police said, shared statements from religious figures calling for Arab and Islamic armies to mobilize for war against “occupying Zionists,” with a message invoking Allah and victory. Police said a song playing in the background included lyrics about fighting and “grant[ing] you victory.” Police said the online activity was monitored by the IDF’s Central Command. Overnight, security forces from the Special Patrol Unit and detectives from Israel Police’s Judea and Samaria District raided the suspects’ homes in Hebron. Officers seized mobile phones and computers for evidence. The suspects, aged 17 and 50 among them, were taken to the Hebron police station and remain under investigation on suspicion of incitement and support for terrorism. Police said the monitoring and arrests were part of efforts targeting people who incite against Israel, support terrorism, or glorify attacks against security forces, while the investigation into the attack itself continues with counterterrorism investigators.
