Three suspected burglars were arrested in Hoeri after they allegedly tried to break into a weapons shop, the Zurich cantonal police said. The operation began shortly after 4.30am on Saturday, when a report came into the emergency control center about suspicious people at a commercial property. Multiple patrols were sent to the scene, where they found traces of an attempted break-in at a weapons store. When police arrived, two men fled. One was caught on foot by a cantonal officer and taken into custody. The second man initially escaped. Near the crime scene, officers spotted a car with French number plates. Inside, they found a man hiding, and arrested him as well. For the search for the third suspect, a police dog handler from Winterthur was called in. The service dog, Naruk, picked up a trail at around 6am and led officers to another man hiding near the scene. The three arrested suspects are a 21-year-old and two 23-year-old men, all French nationals. So far, police say the group was not able to steal anything. The alleged getaway vehicle was seized. It was listed for identification because it had been reported stolen in February 2026 in the canton of Bern. The three men were to be handed over to the public prosecutor after police interviews.
