Three young men were detained after an alleged phone robbery in Vienna, during which two pistols and a knife were used to threaten a 25-year-old man, his companion and an eyewitness. The incident happened on 26 October 2026 around 22:00 at Bertha-Zuckerkandl-Weg in Vienna’s 9th district. The suspects, aged 18, 19 and 20, allegedly asked the man for the time. When he took out his mobile phone, one of the men allegedly snatched it from his hand. Police from the Josefstadt and Ottakring city police commands and WEGA units searched for the suspects. Officers later stopped all three in the Treustraße area of Vienna-Brigittenau. No weapons were found on the men when they were arrested. All three denied the allegations. The suspects were shown on conditions on the orders of the Vienna public prosecutor’s office, meaning they were released while the case proceeds. The case is still at the investigation stage following the arrests.
