Police in Romania, working with DIICOT, are investigating three teenage boys for allegedly accessing and possessing terrorist propaganda as part of a radicalization process. The suspects include two 16-year-olds and one 17-year-old. DIICOT prosecutors carried out searches on 15 October in four counties, including Galați. Investigators said the teens repeatedly accessed and held propaganda materials online and through other electronic communications. Authorities allege the materials were used to take on a terrorist ideology of Islamic “factură,” as described in the case. During the operation, police documented the teenagers’ activity and obtained evidence that one of them went further by drafting guidance documents for supporters or fighters of a terrorist organization. The documents included rules for hiding membership, methods used by intelligence services to monitor people suspected of terrorism, and recommendations on how to interact with authorities while disguising hostile intentions. Police said the teen used multiple articles from an online propaganda platform belonging to the organization, including content such as official releases from its media channels. Searches were carried out in Constanța, Galați, Alba and Iași. Investigators identified and seized evidence for analysis as the case continues. The inquiry is being conducted with support from the Serviciul Român de Informații (SRI). The legal process is ongoing, with DIICOT prosecutors ordering continued criminal investigations for the three minors.
