Suspect in Trappes attack was summoned after station-service violence
Kévin T. was charged with terror-related murder after being detained.
A man accused of opening fire during the Trappes and La Verrière attack was previously summoned by police three days earlier after a violent incident in a Levallois-Perret service station, according to prosecutors in Nanterre.
Prosecutors confirmed that a procedure for violence was opened on 20 October 2026 against Kévin T. after a dispute between motorists at around 11:20. Municipal police were called to the station service, found a cryogenic tear gas bomb on site that the suspect said he used to protect himself, and arrested him.
The injured driver, who reported receiving tear gas in the face and being beaten, filed a complaint later that evening at Levallois-Perret police station. The medical certificate issued by the Levallois-Perret emergency department at 12:02 recorded injuries including a left jaw hematoma and bruised ribs.
Police heard Kévin T. at the station under the “voluntary appearance” regime and issued him a notice for another audition, set for 23 October 2026 at 09:30, the morning of the attack. Video surveillance was requested on 22 October, but could not be handed over until 27 October.
Three days later, around 10:00, Kévin T. allegedly fired at Trappes. He was then arrested at 10:20 in Coignières.
This week, prosecutors said the procedure opened on 20 October was only brought to the Nanterre public prosecutor’s attention on Thursday. Kévin T. was placed in pre-trial detention after being charged by three anti-terror investigating judges with murder and attempted murders in connection with a terror enterprise, with an added racist aggravating factor.
The investigation continues, with Kévin T. currently in custody after his terror-related charges.
