Police arrest 2 suspects after commercial thefts of e-scooters in Vienna
Three alleged e-scooters, three bikes and tools seized during house searches.
Vienna police have arrested a 25-year-old Austrian woman and a 37-year-old man from the Russian Federation after alleged commercial thefts in Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus.
The arrests followed an operation on 8 October 2026, 18:45, after the 37-year-old reportedly stole a jacket from a clothing shop and then took two e-scooters in the district while the 25-year-old allegedly kept watch.
Investigators had been probing the 37-year-old for suspected commercial theft for some time, and he was observed by police.
During subsequent home searches, officers seized three alleged stolen e-scooters, three bicycles, an e-moped and burglary tools. One of the seized e-scooters was linked to a break-in theft reported on 2 October 2026, also in Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus. The origin of the other items is still being investigated.
Both suspects admitted the allegations when questioned.
On the order of the Vienna public prosecutor, the 37-year-old was taken to a prison facility, while the 25-year-old was reported while remaining at liberty.
