Constanța police: 2 men get suspended sentences after illegal arms import
Raids in November 2025 uncovered a pistol, 45 cartridges and fireworks batteries.
Two men from Constanța county agreed to plead guilty after prosecutors said they illegally imported firearms from Bulgaria and kept them without authorization.
The case led to suspended prison sentences of 2 years and 6 months for one man and 2 years and 1 month for the other. The plea agreements were admitted by the Constanța District Court on 12 October 2026.
Investigators started from information they received and checked copies of documents provided by a Bulgarian company that sold weapons to the two suspects in 2025. One man appeared in the Bulgarian gunseller register with a weapon dated 6 January 2025.
On 5 November 2025, home searches were carried out. Prosecutors say officers found a lethal pistol, brand EKOL, caliber 9mm PAK, along with 45 live cartridges, caliber 9mm. Investigators also said a second lethal revolver-style pistol EKOL was seized, as well as two pieces of fireworks items, F2 category, brand MAXSEM.
The court records state the men bought non-lethal pistols requiring authorization, brought them into Romania, and possessed them without right. The men recognized their guilt and concluded plea agreements with prosecutors.
The proceedings have concluded with suspended sentences following the court’s approval of the agreements.
