Police arrest two after 15 spray cans used for graffiti on trains in Vienna
Officers found pepper spray, a stolen-style video camera and other items after the raid at a rail station.
Vienna police arrested two men after they allegedly sprayed graffiti on several trains at Heiligenstädter Lände early on 2 November 2026.
A witness contacted officers after observing several people enter the station area unlawfully. When police arrived, they saw suspects climbing over a barrier towards Heiligenstädter Straße, and two men were detained at the scene.
During the arrest, both men resisted, kicking and striking officers. One of the suspects threw a mobile construction barrier towards the responding officers and tried to reach into his jacket during the procedure.
Police then found a mobile pepper spray after a search of the detained man’s person. Officers also seized a video camera, stickers, a balaclava, a scarf, mobile phones, gloves, and a suspected “hash cube” in a plastic bag.
Three other people fled across the railway tracks towards Rampengasse. Officers fired two blank alarm shots to stop them, but the three suspects escaped, and police launched a search that has not yet succeeded.
At the scene, officers found and secured 15 spray cans, along with a pair of trousers and a jacket. They also identified fresh paint marks on the gloves seized from the suspects.
The two detained men are a 17-year-old and a 19-year-old. Both were provisionally arrested, and further investigations are ongoing.
