UK fugitive arrested in Britain after stabbing student in Seoul
Police arrested the suspect nine days after he fled overseas.
A British man suspected of stabbing a female college student on a university campus in Seoul has been arrested in Britain, nine days after fleeing the country.
Korean National Police said that on October 8 (local time) they arrested the British national, known as A, in the United Kingdom with help from the U.K. National Extradition Unit.
Police said A attacked his acquaintance, a woman in her 20s identified as B, at about 11:50 a.m. on October 29 on a university campus in Seongbuk District. B suffered a minor wound to the neck, and reports said it was not life-threatening.
After the assault, police sought an Interpol red notice and confirmed that A entered the U.K. Investigators then worked with the NEU through a Korean police liaison officer dispatched locally to locate him.
A was arrested at a residence nine days after the escape overseas. Korean National Police said it will push ahead with extradition procedures to repatriate A to Korea, working with related agencies including the Ministry of Justice.
