Ukrainian man accused after Monaco relative dies from 13-metre fall
A 42-year-old is accused of involuntary manslaughter and failure to render aid.
A 42-year-old Ukrainian man has been taken into custody in Monaco after the death of Antoine de Massy, a relative of Prince Albert II.
Investigators say the 29-year-old was found dead on October 25 near the Larvotto district. An autopsy concluded he died after a fall of about 13 meters.
Police believe de Massy may have fallen from Larvotto Boulevard onto the area behind one of the houses. The investigation is still working to establish exactly how the fall happened.
During the probe, law enforcement identified a 42-year-old Ukrainian man who had been in contact with de Massy. Monaco Life reported the man has lived in Monaco for about 30 years.
The man was accused of involuntary manslaughter and failure to render aid to a person in danger. During interrogation, he denied the charges and later refused to answer the investigating judge’s questions.
Prosecutors have not explained what role the man may have played in de Massy’s death. Investigators also have not ruled out that the allegations could relate to different moments during the incident.
The investigation is ongoing, and the court has not yet established the man’s guilt.
