A 29-year-old Monaco royal relative, Antoine de Massy, was found dead in a Larvotto park after authorities were alerted when his family could not reach him. Prosecutors said de Massy’s body was discovered Sunday along Boulevard du Larvotto. An autopsy indicated he likely died after a fall from a height of 13 meters. De Massy was allegedly seen leaving a nightclub Sunday night, staggering and leaning on a man for support, according to Le Parisien. A Ukrainian man arrested in the case has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and failure to assist a person in danger. He has lived in Monaco for 30 years. Monaco Prosecutor General Stéphane Thibault said the suspect, who has not been identified, denied the allegations during police questioning and refused to answer the investigating judge before being remanded in custody. The charges do not allege that de Massy was intentionally killed, and he remains presumed innocent. Authorities are investigating what happened to establish the precise sequence of events that led to the fall. A memorial appeared near the scene, with flowers, candles, a Monaco flag and tennis balls in tribute to de Massy’s tennis passion. De Massy was the son of Baron Christian de Massy and Cécile Gelabale, and the grandson of Princess Antoinette, Prince Albert’s aunt. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène confirmed the death in a statement released by the Prince’s Palace. The case is ongoing as the suspect remains in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
