Police in Poland arrested an Ukrainian citizen suspected of helping prepare sabotage at Carfil, an arms factory in Brașov, Romania. The man, identified as Artem S., 25, was detained in Warsaw, after being sought on a European arrest warrant issued by Romanian authorities. A Warsaw tribunal ordered seven days of pre-trial detention on Wednesday. Polish authorities said the suspect was linked to alleged sabotage carried out through arson at an arms-industry facility. The case surfaced after Romanian prosecutors and Serviciul Român de Informații said the suspect worked with a wider network targeting military and industrial objectives. According to reports cited in the Romanian case, Artem S. was tasked with identifying a target in Romania and arranging payment for the operation. He was arrested on Monday in an apartment in the Ursus district of Warsaw without resistance. Romanian investigators said the alleged network was coordinated from Russia and extended beyond Romania, while two other suspects, Belarusian citizens, were detained in Germany. Romania asked for extradition of all three suspects. Artem S. told Polish authorities he does not agree to be handed over to Romania and asked for a lawyer.
