US citizen Kevin Radosevich arrested in Tirana after anti-government clashes
Six people face attempted murder charges after attacks on police with Molotov cocktails and other devices.
Kevin Radosevich, a US citizen reportedly from California, has been arrested by Tirana police after the October 31 anti-government protest.
Police suspect Radosevich was photographed distributing Molotov cocktails among protesters, but they have not officially confirmed that specific allegation.
Radosevich is one of six people arrested over violence during the protests. For the first time, all six detainees are facing a serious criminal charge, attempted murder of a police officer.
Authorities accuse the suspects of attacking police with Molotov cocktails, stones, pyrotechnic devices, and metal balls and screws fired using slingshots. Police also said they apprehended two young men in possession of Molotov cocktails.
Radosevich’s arrest is the second case involving a US citizen detained during recent demonstrations against Prime Minister Edi Rama’s government. On October 17, police arrested American national Julien Williams and Italian citizen Marko Benvenuto over suspected clashes with police officers, and both men denied the allegations.
Radosevich and the other five suspects are currently charged and held in custody as the investigation into the October 31 violence continues.
