US DHS puts 24 Nigerians on “Worst of the Worst” fraud list
The portal lists arrests tied to mail fraud, wire fraud and money laundering across several states.
The US Department of Homeland Security has posted the names and photographs of 24 Nigerians on its “Worst of the Worst” portal, tied to alleged crimes investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The entries list each person’s name, the offence DHS attached to the arrest, and the place where the arrest happened. Fraud accounts for a large share of the cases.
Emmanuel Omowaiye was arrested in Richmond, Texas, over mail fraud.
Olusegun Shonekan, arrested in Newark, New Jersey, and Peter Ude, held in Atlanta, Georgia, are both listed for wire fraud. Newton Jemide, arrested at Fort Dix, New Jersey, is linked to wire fraud, conspiracy and mail fraud.
DHS also lists five people for money laundering. Shedrack Umukoro and Teslim Kiriji were arrested in Yazoo City, Mississippi, while Charles Ochi was held in White Deer, Pennsylvania. Justin Akubueze was arrested in Orem, Utah, and Bright Eigbedion in Lompoc, California.
Michael Orji, arrested in Oxford, Wisconsin, has the most extensive listing, covering fraud, identity theft, wire fraud and money laundering, along with a weapons offence and false citizenship. The remaining names are linked to drug offences, forgery, assault, identity theft and cruelty to a child.
DHS described those on the portal as “worst of the worst” criminal aliens, spotlighting non-citizens with criminal records arrested by ICE. The publication is part of the Trump administration’s promise of mass deportations, beginning with people DHS regards as the most dangerous offenders. The portal does not say the full circumstances of the arrests or the current state of anyone’s immigration case, including whether anyone has already been deported.
