An elderly woman’s car was stolen in Villanuova sul Clisi, and the suspect was later arrested after a high-risk chase that ended in a tunnel between Vobarno and Sabbio Chiese. The incident began when the woman reported her vehicle stolen in the town centre. Police located the car the next day in the area of Sabbio Chiese. When the driver was spotted by a local police patrol on the Roè Volciano stretch of the ring road, he refused to stop and sped off. The pursuit lasted several kilometres and involved dangerous manoeuvres, including risky overtaking, changes of direction at intersections and driving the wrong way through parts of a tunnel. The local police say the actions seriously endangered other motorists, prompting them to request additional patrols to stop him. The chase ended inside the tunnel between Vobarno and Sabbio Chiese, where officers finally stopped the vehicle. A man and a woman were inside. The driver, a resident of Valtrompia, was arrested and taken to Gavardo, where he spent the night in a security cell. During checks inside the car, officers found a small amount of drugs, a pocket knife and a spray irritant canister. The man was taken before a judge for a summary hearing, after which he was ordered to be transferred to the prison in Canton Mombello in Brescia. The stolen car was recovered and returned to the legitimate owner.
