Vaslui man arrested after drunk driving with suspended licence
Test showed 1.70 mg/l alcohol in expired air, police said.
Rural police in Vaslui arrested a man suspected of drunk driving and driving without a licence, after an alcohol test showed 1.70 mg/l in his expired air.
The case was reported on 10 October 2026 at 18:00, when police were notified through 112 about a road incident in Satu Nou, on Strada Salviei. There were no reported victims.
Officers said the suspect, driving a car registered in Vaslui county, hit another vehicle that was parked at the scene. Because he was emitting an alcohol smell, he was tested with an alcoholmeter.
He was then taken to the Emergency County Hospital in Vaslui for biological samples to establish his blood-alcohol level. Police also checked his records and said his driving licence was suspended since 2022.
Toxicology results submitted by forensic doctors indicated that, at the time the samples were taken, he had a blood alcohol level above the legal limit.
On 12 October 2026, the man was detained for 24 hours. Prosecutors asked the Vaslui Court for a preventive measure, and the court ordered pre-trial detention for 30 days.
Police continue investigations under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office to fully establish and prove the alleged offences of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without a licence.
