Vasto police arrested a 53-year-old woman after finding 400 grams of cocaine in her home, during an investigation that began in Termoli. Officers from the Termoli police station, working with colleagues in Vasto, carried out the operation aimed at preventing and suppressing drug trafficking. The cocaine was discovered at the woman’s house, and she was later taken to the Santa Giovina prison in Lanciano. During the search, police found multiple doses of cocaine stored in heat-sealed plastic bags. Investigators also seized a precision scale and a vacuum device, along with an agenda containing notes linked to drug dealing. The woman appeared in Vasto court for the hearing to validate her arrest before the judge and the prosecutor. She chose not to answer, and her lawyer asked for house arrest, arguing there were no proofs linking the accused to the cocaine. The judge instead confirmed the arrest and ordered her back into custody, placing her in the Santa Giovina prison. Prosecutors said the case is covered by court secrecy, but the investigation continues. Police are working to determine where the cocaine came from and whether other people were involved.
