A 37-year-old man was arrested in Vienna-Favoriten after a clothing store security guard stopped him for allegedly stealing seven pairs of jeans. Police said the suspect put the jeans into a bag he was carrying and then passed the checkout area without paying on 21.10.2026 at around 19:00. Officers from the Van-der-Nüll-Gasse police inspection were alerted and carried out inquiries. During the checks, they found he had been reported several times in recent months for shoplifting. On the order of the Vienna public prosecutor, the man was arrested on suspicion of commercial theft and transferred to a prison.
