A 24-year-old man was arrested in Vienna after police allege he threatened a takeaway owner with a kitchen knife, stole beer, and assaulted a staff member. The incident happened on 1 November 2022 at about 11:45 in Vienna-Floridsdorf. Police said the owner refused to hand over beer, after which the suspect allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife from the restaurant kitchen, threatened the owner, and then took several beer cans from the fridge when a customer entered. Officers said the suspect allegedly dropped the knife, grabbed multiple beer cans, and fled. Before the escape, he was also accused of striking the owner with a fist. During an immediate search, police from the Kürschnergasse station arrested him not far from the scene. During the arrest, he allegedly tried to bite a police officer, prompting police to place him in a security cell. The Vienna State Criminal Police Office, North Branch, took over the case. The suspect refused to make a statement during questioning. On orders from the Vienna public prosecutor, he was taken to a prison facility.
