Police in Vienna arrested a 39-year-old man suspected of threatening another man with a knife in a garage at a multi-party house. The incident happened on 17.10.2026 at around 21:30 in Vienna-Favoriten. Police say two former business partners got into a dispute over money debts, during which the suspect allegedly punched, choked, and held a folding knife to the victim’s neck, threatening to kill him. Friends of the victim intervened and separated the men. The slightly injured 38-year-old managed to flee from the garage and called the police. Officers from the Keplergasse police station found the suspected attacker shortly afterwards at his home address and detained him. He denied the allegations, but told police he kept a folding knife in his car. During a search of the vehicle, police seized the alleged weapon, a second folding knife, and a Schlagring, also ordering the items confiscated. A temporary weapons ban was issued, and the suspect also received a residence and approach ban. The man was reported on suspicion of dangerous threats and under the Weapons Act, and remains in police custody while the investigation continues, police said. According to the latest status, he was placed under provisional arrest and is still facing suspicion over the alleged threats.
