Police caught two suspects loading cable drums, while a third fled.
Two 16-year-old boys were arrested in Vienna-Donaustadt after police stopped them following a break-in at a construction site, where alleged thieves loaded cable drums into a small van.
The incident happened on 20.10.2026 at around 01:00, after a construction company employee spotted three men breaking into the site at night and putting several cable reels into a Kleintransporter.
The witness called the police. Officers from the Rudolf-Nurejew-Promenade police station intercepted two of the three alleged offenders shortly afterwards.
Both arrested suspects are Austrian citizens aged 16. A third man initially escaped, and police believe he may be the stepfather of one of the teenagers. A manhunt is currently ongoing for the fugitive.
