A suspected drug courier was arrested in Vienna after a handover of 2,103 grams of marijuana and 1,186.5 grams of cocaine in a flat in Meidling, police said. The incident unfolded on 29.10.2026. The 47-year-old man, who allegedly acted as the courier, met three buyers in the apartment in Wien-Meidling at 19:20 and again at 20:16. During the handover, the three men allegedly tried to cheat the courier by giving him a money package that looked like it contained a large amount of cash but was instead filled with plastic bags. One buyer then jumped out of the window of the apartment carrying the drugs and tried to flee. Special units from the Direktion Spezialeinheiten, Einsatzkommando Cobra, stopped the fleeing man. All four men were temporarily detained at the scene. Police found a four-digit amount of cash with the 35-year-old and seized both the money and the drugs. Later the same evening, Cobra officers forcibly opened the home of a 36-year-old man in Wien-Leopoldstadt, described as the alleged client. In the apartment, police seized 442 grams of cocaine and 1,150 euros in cash. The 36-year-old and an 18-year-old woman in the flat were also temporarily detained. All suspects are currently being held by police while further investigations continue, according to the Vienna police.
