Police in Vienna seize e-scooters, bikes and 100 batteries from cellar
A 45-year-old man was identified after a witness reported a missing padlock.
Police in Vienna are investigating a suspected theft after dozens of valuable items were found in a tenant’s cellar compartment.
A witness called officers on 22 October 2026, after noticing the padlock on his cellar compartment was missing. A check revealed that someone had stored multiple e-scooters, bicycles and various electric devices in the compartment.
Officers brought in the State Criminal Intelligence Office for evidence collection because they suspected the items could be stolen. Seized items included several e-scooters, bicycles, and around 100 e-scooter batteries. Police also recovered an unregistered moped.
During further inquiries, detectives gathered information about a man living in the same building, who allegedly had been using the cellar compartment for months, mostly at night, to move goods in and out.
Police then identified a 45-year-old man from Serbia and filed a report. Investigations are ongoing.
