Vienna-Margareten: 47-year-old attacks police officers, arrested
A minor injury was reported after officers used force during the arrest.
Police were called to a multi-unit home in Vienna-Margareten on 18 October 2026 at 11:40 after a domestic dispute between a married couple.
Officers found the 43-year-old woman extremely upset in the stairwell, crying and agitated. A loud argument had erupted between the husband and wife, and the 20-year-old daughter allegedly joined in.
The 47-year-old husband is said to have attacked both his wife and daughter. After repeated knocks, he opened the apartment door and ran at the officers screaming, with clenched fists.
Police had to use physical force to stop him. The 47-year-old was provisionally detained on suspicion of resistance against state authority. During the arrest, an officer suffered a minor injury.
The 43-year-old and the 20-year-old were treated by the rescue service and then released into home care. A prohibition against entering and approaching was ordered. Authorities already had a weapons ban in place for the man.
On instructions from the Vienna public prosecutor’s office, he was reported while free.
