Police in Vienna arrested a 29-year-old man after an E-scooter theft. The scooter had been parked at Vienna’s Heiligenstadt station and was later located using a vehicle tracking system.
The owner, a 34-year-old man, reported the theft after he could not find his E-scooter on 11.10.2026 at 01:00 in the area of Michael-Neumann-Gasse in 1190 Vienna. With help from the scooter’s location system, officers identified the current spot in Zeltgasse in Vienna-Josefstadt.
When police arrived, they found a 29-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman nearby. Both were suspected of having the scooter, which the owner said he could clearly identify as his own.
During the follow-up, officers searched the male suspect and found drug-related paraphernalia and traces of illegal drugs. The 29-year-old was arrested on suspicion of burglary theft and under the Austrian Drugs Act, and was taken to a detention facility on orders from the Vienna public prosecutor.
The 22-year-old was also reported on suspicion of burglary theft and was released. The E-scooter was returned to its 34-year-old owner.
The investigation remains ongoing, with the 29-year-old in custody following the arrest.
