Vienna police say an attempted murder case has been clarified after a 35-year-old was found with a gunshot wound to the abdomen in a Penzing apartment. The incident took place on 19 October 2026, around 12.55, in Vienna’s 14th district. The man told investigators he was robbed by four people he did not know inside the home. As the suspects fled with a larger amount of cash, he and another person in the apartment chased them, leading to a physical confrontation on the street where shots were fired. The Landeskriminalamt Wien, Ermittlungsbereich Leib/Leben, group Lehner, took over the investigation. Prosecutors ordered multiple searches, carried out in Vienna districts 5, 10, 12, 16 and 17. After an intensive manhunt, police identified the whereabouts of four alleged offenders and arrested them on the following day. The suspects are a 27-year-old, a 33-year-old, a 39-year-old and a 46-year-old. Police said all of them are active in the suspected drug trade, and during questioning they showed largely confessions. The injured man was released from hospital and then also arrested on suspicion of drug dealing. All five men were taken to a prison facility.
