Four police officers were injured during an arrest in Vienna after a 34-year-old man turned aggressively on officers following a street altercation. The incident unfolded in the Innere Stadt area at around 3:30 am on 1 November 2026, after a call came in about a physical assault between two people outside an inner-city bar. Police from the Laurenzerberg and Goethegasse stations took statements and dealt with the highly aggressive behaviour of one of the people involved. The 34-year-old Austrian citizen shouted, swore at bystanders, and also verbally targeted the officers on scene. During the arrest attempt, the man shoved a police officer hard. He fought back violently, and the force involved left four officers injured. One officer had injuries to the leg and hand and was treated in hospital, meaning he could not continue his duties. During questioning, the man refused to make a statement. On the order of the Vienna public prosecutor, he was taken to a prison facility.
