Vienna police raid 6 suspects over Halloween violence calls
WEGA and LKA Wien seize weapons including 2 alarm pistols and a machete.
Police in Vienna and Lower Austria have raided six people after calls on social media urged violence and other crimes for Halloween.
The operation began in the early morning of 30.10.2026. Investigators linked the online posts to six individuals within days and ordered house searches across Vienna and Lower Austria.
The Vienna State Office for the Protection of the Constitution and Extremism Control, with support from the Directorate for State Protection and Intelligence, opened investigations on suspicion of a criminal conspiracy under section 277 of the Criminal Code, as well as public calls for punishable offences under section 282.
On the order of the Vienna public prosecutor, six house searches were carried out with support from the WEGA special unit and the Vienna Criminal Police Office. Four suspects, aged 14 to 22, were brought in for immediate questioning using a freedom-restricting measure.
During the searches, police seized several data carriers, two alarm pistols, a soft gun, ammunition and a machete. A fifth person was in custody in a detention facility after an allegation involving a minor property offence, said to be unrelated to the Halloween investigation. A sixth person, identified by name, is being sought.
The investigations are still ongoing under the direction of the Vienna public prosecutor, with motives and other background details being examined.
