Vienna police arrest two over alleged bike theft stash
Officers found 10 stolen bikes and E-bikes plus parts in a 12th district apartment.
Vienna police have arrested two men after officers found ten allegedly stolen bicycles and E-bikes, including two that were traced back to their rightful owner.
The victim, a 62-year-old man from Bad Vöslau in Lower Austria, tracked his e-bike to Vienna using an attached tracking system. On 16 October 2026, around 13:40, officers from the City Police Command Meidling went to an address in the 12th district.
Inside a vacant apartment in a multi-unit building, police discovered the bikes and e-bikes, along with numerous bicycle spare parts and tools. During the search, officers also found two men at the premises: a 23-year-old man with Slovak citizenship and a 50-year-old man with Czech citizenship.
Both men were provisionally arrested. The Vienna Public Prosecutor ordered that they be released on bail, while they were reported on suspicion of commercial-scale theft.
Two e-bikes, including the victim’s e-bike, and one bicycle were returned to their rightful owners. Further investigations are ongoing.
