A 69-year-old shop owner in Vienna-Wieden was robbed after two men entered his store while he counted the daily cash. One suspect stayed by the door as the other approached the man and grabbed the money. The owner tried to stop the theft and a struggle broke out between the two men. The suspects fled with cash in the three-digit euro range in an unknown direction. The police were called immediately. Before officers arrived, the 69-year-old noticed a wallet on the floor inside the shop. Investigators later determined the wallet likely fell out of one of the alleged offenders during the scuffle. Police launched an immediate search for both suspects, but it initially came up empty. In the hours that followed, investigators obtained a detention order from the public prosecutor’s office in Vienna. A 17-year-old was then provisionally arrested at his home address in Vienna-Mariahilf. The victim was not physically injured during the incident.
