A Vinnytsia court sentenced two people for their roles in an organised drug group, handing down 9 years in prison each with confiscation of property. The case stemmed from police action in February, when investigators dismantled two drug networks and a drug lab in the regional center. Officers carried out more than 20 simultaneous searches and detained 7 suspects. The accused allegedly arranged drug sales through online shops. A clandestine production setup operated on the territory of a private home in Vinnytsia. During the searches, police seized more than 20 kg of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, including amphetamine, alpha-PVP, and cannabis. Officers also found almost 60 litres of precursors used to manufacture the drugs. The seized items were valued at at least 6 million hryvnias. Prosecutors qualified the actions of the two defendants under part 3 of Article 307 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code, covering illegal production, acquisition, and storage for sale, plus illegal sale of an especially dangerous psychotropic substance, committed repeatedly by an organised group. The latest status in the case is that both defendants have been convicted and sentenced by the Vinnytsia City Court.
