Police warn of foreign objects found in Halloween sweets in Austria
Metallic objects and nails were discovered in multiple federal states, with packaging urged to be saved.
Austria’s Interior Ministry has warned people about reports of nails and other metallic foreign objects being found in Halloween sweets.
The ministry said cases were displayed across several federal states after sweets collected for Halloween were allegedly tampered with. Anyone who finds obviously manipulated sweets is asked to keep the sweets and their packaging and report the matter to police.
The warning follows discoveries of physical foreign objects in sweets. The ministry did not name locations or describe specific incidents beyond the reported types of objects.
Police are currently relying on the public to spot tampered items and to preserve the packaging so investigators can examine what was found.
